The purpose of the Write to Rise Young Writer’s Workshop and Competition (WTR) is to foster young writers to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their literary works, and to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes.
Each year, WTR will offer a platform for young aspiring writers to spread their wings by offering them the opportunity to showcase their literacy skills and passion for writing. The participants will be guided in the development of building their portfolio, and experience the professional editorial and publishing process.
The mission, simply put, is to provide the encouragement, resources, training, and inspiration young writers need, to stimulate their imaginations and challenge their potential.
The writers’ work will be juried by luminaries with writing, education, and publishing backgrounds. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a clear personal voice or vision.
• To foster a support system for the participants, which will include feedback from professionals and judges from the literary arena, print publishing industry, teachers and librarians. These mentors will offer constructive criticism and encouragement, i.e., suggestions to expand a story, modifying a writing style, or more attention to detail (punctuation, grammar, or research).
• Promote the young writer’s sense of accomplishment, by offering this real-life experience in having their work go from a concept to a published author.
• Through the incentive of a scholarship and recognition, the winning writers, will be able to translate the rewards for hard work into a tangible model for future success.
In an effort to collaborate with Corporate Sponsors in a mutually beneficial partnership that will reward our respective organizations, we invite you to become a WTR Corporate Sponsor. Partnering with WTR is not only a good community investment… it is also a good business investment!
When students are involved in activities that build self-esteem, core values and nurture talent they gain a strong sense of accomplishment which positively ffects other aspects of their lives. Your sponsorship will help us to facilitate experiences which target key development areas in our youth, such as: leadership, respect, self-control, discipline, accountability, time management and many other positive character traits.
We look forward to having your support and know that your sponsorship will prove to be a favorable experience, giving your company the opportunity to achieve marketing/sales/PR objectives that will result in a positive return on your investment. Your sponsorship will also align your company with a well-respected elected official, a growing 501(c)(3) organization and a positive cultural lifestyle magazine. In addition, your sponsorship creates awareness of your corporate identity as a positive image—that says you care about targeted communities, on a year-round promotional opportunity.
The following section of this proposal explains the Sponsorship levels. We welcome the opportunity to discuss a sponsorship with you in greater detail, please contact/con rm your commitment to Laurie Hunter/Channing Parham, Project Managers, firstname.lastname@example.org, 404-694-2204.
